Portfolio papers prompt
I think my best paper so far would be my McCandless essay, since i feel that i established a solid arguement and did a decent job at supporting it. The paper that needs the most work would be my research paper, since its missing its purpose, which is a significant part to any paper. If i can just flesh out a solid purpose, then maybe i can create a great paper.

Primary source blog
My primary source is a book about Desert life and politics. I chose this source because i can easily arguement the formation of a political like power coming together in the desert life, which is where my film takes place. My arguement for the source would be how desert life "politics" change based off of the circumstances presented in the desert itself, which may interest a political audience of some kind. That audience can glean that media can influence or be influenced by surrounding environments.

Patricia keeps showing this "Show dont tell" aspect in her writing. Is that what she truly wants her readers to do when they write? Or does she want you to "Show" as well as other things? Do you believe this holds true for essays in school? Or would it detract from your credibility as it would appear you are writing a novel and not an essay? Patricia also goes on to say that writing a picture or physical object is an effective way of description. Pick an object in your room and describe it, "write it."
It is part of what she wants you to do. She wants you to show and tell in a balanced way so the description can be powerful and have more meaning/understanding to it. And i believe this holds true for all writing. To be able to describe something in vivid detail so your reader gets the picture is an important tool in writing.
The object writing... The vibrant yellow, delicately designed in a concave shape and fleshed out to create a perfect sized bowl no bigger than a stretched out hand. The silver spoon announces its presence to the world by silently screaming from its solitary position within the bowl. Silver against yellow. And the residue of a breakfast recently enjoyed, only leaving a few drops of the delicious cow product for the insects that may come around.

Group E Prompt
I think that no matter what, that drive to go out into the wild was because of their love for the wild, not due to their family problems. It may have been a secondary objective, to escape from their families and be free for a while, but if you love something and you go and do that, it won't be because you hate your family. I love playing video games, and i play them yet i love my family. People go see concerts because they love that band, and they dont go necessarily because they need to escape from their family. Its because thats is what they want to do.

I think the approach Krakauer takes towards his novel is on the right track. He employs plenty of pathos to help stir the emotions of the reader and get them to feel what it is he feels about Christopher McCandless. If i were writing this though, I would most likely employ a balanced view of pathos, ethos, and logos. Pathos to draw the reader into an emotional state that is appropriate. Follow this with logos, so that there are facts for the reader to believe and understand. And after the combination of emotions and facts, lay out a few good sentences as to why, and why you should believe me. I think that type of outline could help diminish those that would tear down McCandless for what he did, and further help support my opinion, as well as Krakauer's (as they are the same). But i do not see a more fitting title that "Into the Wild." Its plain, yet much can be drawn from those three words.

I do not believe i really would allow myself to be adopted, even if i didn't like my parents, and the adoptee was someone i respected. Some families have it really bad, but i think that builds your character, to some extent. With those harsh times or scary moments, those are things you can build upon, and i feel that if its anything but your family, then its fake. But that may just be me.

To be honest i wasnt very inspired at all by the past campaigns. I pay more attention to the little details of what each candidate had to say, rather than how they said it or what they stand for. Both parties lacked individuality i believed. Their promises were so similar it was hard to dictate who actually believed what. And unfortunately i was not 18 at the time so couldnt take any action. Overall however i think the entire campaign as a whole was an incremental step towards something greater for america.

I'm really not sure if i could or couldnt. I definitely have enough confidence in myself to believe i could. But i would need to do a few courses or somethin, maybe hike in some local woods for a while so i could get a little more experience. Maybe read up on things that are edible if i happen to completely fail at capturing rabbits or something. Maybe after all that i think i could survive it, at least for a little while. I think i'm athletic enough to be able to get certain tasks done such as hunting and hut building (poor huts at that most likely haha). And i can definitely live without tech for a while, i love camping, so going without all that stuff is fun for me sometimes.

About me
My names Gage, have many nicknames from those who know me but Gage should do for the most part. Im from Federal Way, here in Washington. For those who dont know its a tad south of Seattle. Nice little town. Im actually an avid writer. I really enjoy writing stories, and basically love writing in general. Im a Pre-med major, wanted to be a doctor since I was kid-for the most part at least. Just human diseases and everything involving us and how we work facinates me. Im not a big speaker, but if i know you, i wont be afraid to talk to ya. I have no problem defending my arguements, even if I am wrong. I also enjoy playing video games, mostly on the computer, since in my opinion its the best. And sports are big for me, especially football. Seahawks for life, and thats how it will always be.
